Join us for a unique soiree with the creators of Dangerous When Wet, a new Australian musical that celebrates champion swimmers, Fanny Durack and Mina Wylie, and is set to take Sydney by storm in October 2026!
In the early 1900s, Sydney swimmers Fanny Durack, Mina Wylie and Annette Kellerman were pioneers of the early women’s swimming movement. They were breaking world records in our local Sydney sea-pools, yet few remember them today.
Durack and Wylie became our first female Olympians, medal winners and Olympic record holders, and Dangerous When Wet – The Musical celebrates their struggle to compete in the 1912 Olympics, their extraordinary achievements and their friendship. Annette Kellerman, who is the narrator of the show, was the first to develop streamlined women’s swimwear and became Australia’s first Hollywood superstar.
Meet the writers, Eliane Morel and Merran Hughes , who will give you a special behind-the-scenes glimpse into the fascinating research that inspired Dangerous When Wet, and composer/director Joanna Weinberg and musical director Daryl Wallis, who will let you in on the secrets of the creative process.
Performers from the show will also entertain you with some of the songs and characters from Dangerous When Wet.
Don’t miss out on this unique opportunity to meet the creators, ask questions about this new musical, and be a part of Australian history!
