About Del Gaudry CSC
After growing up at Oakdale and finishing year 12 at Camden High School Del travelled Australia for several months before joining the Air Force as a WRAAF (pronounced WAAF) Clerk Supply. Del left the RAAF after a couple of years for family reasons. Del re-joined the RAAF again after completing a Bachelor’s Degree as an Officer in the Logistics area and left in 1994 to remain in the Air Force Standby Reserves.
Del returned to the Air Force as an active Reservist in 2006 until April this year. Del recently retired from the Air Force where she has spent time both in and out over the past 47 years. She has worked in several different Reserve jobs in the Sydney area in the past fifteen years.
Her more recent positions included:
- Air Force Coach and Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) facilitator.
- Women’s Integrated Network Group (WINGs) Coordinator for RAAF Richmond
- Women Peace and Security Staff Officer
In-between stints in the Air Force, Del spent several years in private enterprise in the field of Human Resources. She worked in senior HR roles for Bunzl Limited, Visy Recycling, PacificBrands and Mobil.
Del also has a few volunteer hats including the Sydney Coordinator for Women’s Veteran Network Australia (WVNA), a member of Zonta in the Blue Mountains and a fire fighter in the Rural Fire Service at the Blaxland Brigade. More recently she was voted in as the National President of the Defence Force Welfare Assn.
Del has been awarded a Bronze Chief of Air Force Commendation, a Gold Vice Chief of the Defence Force Commendation and an Australia Day Medallion. She won the RSL & Services Club Assn ‘Spirit of ANZAC Award’ in 2018 for her volunteerism and support of female veterans. Following the last 15 years in the Air Force she was awarded a Conspicuous Service Cross (CSC) in the 2023 Australia Day Awards for her services toward Women, Peace and Security (UNSCR 1325); as well as her role in Mental Health training and Awareness in Air Force.
Del lives in the Blue Mountains with her husband and she has a daughter and two beautiful grandchildren.
