**About Claire Wivell Plater**
Claire Wivell Plater is a non-executive director of six financial services and fintech businesses, ranging from insurance, credit, wealth management and cryptocurrency services. She is also a strategic adviser and investor in several early-stage fintech ventures.
Ever an entrepreneur and thought leader, Claire started her career with Philips Fox (now DLA Piper) where, after becoming a partner at age 30, she developed digital compliance training, litigation management software and a financial services distribution joint venture with a UK-based firm while also running an extensive insurance litigation practice. In 2002, Claire founded her firm, financial services regulatory specialist, The Fold Legal, which grew to c.20 (predominantly female) staff before its sale to Halo Group in 2021.
Since 2015, Claire has been instrumental in the establishment and growth of Australia’s fintech sector, assisting to found Fintech Australia, advising the Federal Government and ASIC and leading industry working parties. She thrives on complexity and takes pride in her reputation for finding elegant solutions to thorny problems.
Claire is a dedicated philanthropist, serving as Deputy Chair of The Stella Prize and a director of Pinchgut Opera.
