The Women's Club is thrilled to announce the return of our lauded Women in Music program: a celebration of the amazing contribution of women to the world of music—particularly, Australian music.
On Thursday 28 August, there will be two halves, the first comprising of Brielle McAlister and Laura Cox, and the second with Kelly Winning.
Laura and Brielle's dynamic partnership bloomed when fate brought their musical talents together this year at Ultimo Tafe. Their shared passion for music and the joy they found while performing led to the birth of this duet. They appreciate the opportunity to showcase songs by Australian women in music as supporting the future of Australian music is a passion of both of theirs.
Kelly is a multi-instrumentalist, singer songwriter with a heartbeat for adventure. Whether skiing a mountain top with her ukulele or strumming a guitar in the bush, she is always inspired by the beauty around her.
Kelly sees music as a powerful catalyst for connection, running open mics, jam nights and using it to teach children.
Her strong ties to indigenous community and work as an environmental educator help her communicate a deep passion for this country and its people in her songs.
Kelly’s next album will feature, “This River of Gold,” a song from Ngemba Country, Brewarrina written with ex-student Burra McHughes, inspired by his passion to see his river and people restored.
In 2018 Kelly completed the Tamworth Country Music Academy and has gone on to work with country greats Colin Hardy, Charley Boyter, Allan Caswell, Buddy Knox and many more. Her first official song release, “THE REAL DEAL” hit number four in the singer songwriter charts.
This songbird has a uniquely Australian sound with a country gospel, folk feel, mixed with some jazzy blues influences at times. Her authentic, straight from the heart songs warm the soul and evoke the emotions. Kelly Winning is the real deal.
