Join us for an inspiring evening of Women in Music, featuring cellist Alexandra Boyling.
Our Women in Music concerts celebrate the incredible contributions of women to the world of music, with a special emphasis on Australian music.
Biography
Alexandra Boyling began learning the cello at the age of 8 and has recently completed her Bachelor’s degree in Cello Performance at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music, studying with Julian Smiles. In 2025, Alexandra was a recipient of the Celebrate Being Australian Award from the National Council of Women NSW, sponsored by the Women’s Club. She has also been a recipient of the Chandler Scholarship from the Sydney Conservatorium of Music, the Tassell Performing Arts Tertiary Scholarship through Hunter Valley Grammar School, and a full music scholarship at Hunter Valley Grammar School. Alexandra has learnt from teachers including Julian Smiles, Sally Maer and David Pereira, and has also had the opportunity to play for distinguished artists including Nicola Benedetti, Leonard Elschenbroich, Axel von Huene and the Esme Quartet. Alexandra also has extensive orchestral experience and has performed as principal cello of the Sydney Conservatorium Symphony Orchestra and been a member of the Australian Youth Orchestra. Alexandra hopes to have a diverse and rewarding performing career, and is aiming to study overseas in the future.
