Sierra has been playing violin for 10 years and is currently studying a Bachelor of Music Performance at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music. She has always loved sharing her passion for music and began giving lessons in 2015. Since then, she has taught students ranging in age from 6-adult across beginner to advanced levels. She also has experience working with groups and ensembles and has tutored as a volunteer at the South Coast Music Camp.
Sierra aims to inspire and motivate her students, without creating a stressful atmosphere that revolves around extrinsic motivators such as marks and exams, instead encouraging students to have fun with their playing, both in practice and performance! Using this philosophy, she prepares her students for their musical
endeavours in a way that cultivates a love for music.
Having moved to Sydney in 2017 to pursue her violin studies with Professor Goetz Richter from the Sydney Conservatorium of Music, Sierra graduated from the Newtown High School of Performing Arts with Band 6’s in Music 2 and Music Extension. She was invited to tour with the Sydney Youth Orchestra in 2019 to Europe, working alongside members of the London Symphony Orchestra and Halle Orchestra to perform in world-renowned venues. In 2019 she also performed Dvorak’s Requiem with the Sydney Youth Orchestra in the Sydney Opera House, alongside members of the Sydney Symphony and Sydney Philharmonia Choir. In 2018, Sierra was Concertmaster of the Peter Seymour Orchestra (Sydney Youth Orchestras), including a tour of regional NSW.
Hannah completed her HSC at Meriden School in 2019 and Bachelor of music performance from the Sydney Conservatorium of Music in 2023 under the guidance of Julian Smiles. She is currently completing an Honours degree in Pathology at the University of Sydney.
Hannah’s passion is certainly reflected in her achievements. While at school she completed a Certificate of Performance (CMusA), an Associate Diploma in Performance (AMusA), and a Licentiate Diploma in Performance (LMusA). She has performed twice at The National Cello Institute in Los Angeles, and with the Australian Youth Orchestra in the Young Symphonists program. Hannah received the Commonwealth Parliamentarian’s Merit Award in Arts and Culture, and the Strathfield Council Youth Achievement Award. She has been given opportunities to perform with the Orpheus String Orchestra as a soloist as well as the Australian All Schools Music Festival where she held the position of associate principal cellist. Since leaving school Hannah has attended the Australian Youth Orchestra, National Music Camp, received a Sydney Conservatorium of Music Scholarship, participated in their Orchestra European Tour in 2022 and most recently performed in the Australian Showcase at the 2023 Sydney International Piano Competition.
In recent years, Hannah has redirected her focus towards engaging in community performances, specifically in the Blue Mountains, alongside volunteer performances at The Royal North Shore Hospital Festival of Music.
Alongside her passion for music, Hannah enjoys volunteering in the Rural Fire Service, surfing and is deeply fascinated by science. She is pursuing this through her research this year into immunotherapies for pancreatic cancer.
Beyond the piano, Asia engages in a wide range of creative pursuits, including drawing, writing, baking, and crocheting—activities that enrich her artistic voice and serve as complementary forms of expression.
